MeisterTask allows you to automate repetitive project steps by configuring native “Section Automations” that trigger actions automatically when a task is created in or moved into a specific section. Handing off these routine actions to the platform reduces manual updates, prevents critical human oversights, and streamlines team handovers. Core Native Automations Available

Each rule is bound to a specific Kanban column and activates the moment a task lands there:

Assign Task: Automatically passes ownership to a designated teammate when a task moves to their stage (e.g., shifting a card to “Review” assigns it to the quality manager).

Update Status: Adjusts task completion status instantly. Dropping an item into your final column can mark it as “Completed” and automatically archive it out of view.

Checklist: Attaches a predefined list of sub-tasks. Moving a card into a “Marketing Prep” column can auto-load a fixed 5-step launch checklist.

Tags & Due Dates: Dynamically injects or removes relevant tags, or recalculates deadlines to keep calendars accurately sync’ed.

Recurring Tasks: Generates identical tasks automatically at scheduled intervals (daily, weekly, monthly) for routine maintenance or reporting.

External Communications: Directs notifications to outside communication software. Landing a task in a specific section can automatically draft an Email, ping a Slack channel, or message an Office 365 group. How to Set Up an Automation Step-by-Step

Setting up automation requires no coding or technical expertise. Follow these steps on the web platform:

Select Column: Hover over your desired project section header and click the arrow icon. Open Menu: Select Automations from the drop-down listing.

Add Rule: Click + Add Automation and select your chosen action type from the pre-built menu.

Configure: Define specific parameters (such as picking the specific user to assign or writing the custom Slack message template). Save: Apply changes to activate the trigger live.

Note: If you run multiple automations inside a single section, they execute in sequence from top to bottom. Arrange them logically, such as placing a “Tag” automation above a “Move Task” action. Expanding Beyond Native Limits

If you need your workflow to communicate with software outside of MeisterTask’s direct ecosystem, you can extend your board’s logic through external automation builders: Automations – MeisterTask
