RogueScanner is a classic, lightweight, open-source network management tool designed specifically to detect unauthorized or “rogue” wireless access points and endpoints on a wired network. It achieves this by automatically scanning network subnets and identifying the manufacturer and device type of every connected asset.

Here is how you use RogueScanner to find unauthorized hardware on your network. 1. Build an Authorized Network Baseline

You cannot spot what is unauthorized until you map out what belongs on your network.

Run an initial discovery scan with RogueScanner across your IP ranges.

Export the list of discovered MAC addresses and IP addresses. Cross-reference this list with your corporate IT inventory.

Mark known corporate laptops, servers, printers, and switches as Trusted within your documentation or tool profile. 2. Configure and Run RogueScanner

Once your baseline is established, configure RogueScanner to scan the network at regular intervals. Finding rogue devices in your network using Nmap – Red Hat
